That's sure to wake up the neighbors.

I decided to be courteous last night and not try to start it up at 2AM, though I was dying to know if it would run. Of course I woke up hours before my alarm this morning in anticipation of the few remaining things to be done.

Once it got closer to a reasonable hour, I wheeled her out and finished things up.

Poured some fresh gas in, turned on the fuel, hit the button... I'll be damned if it didn't start THE FIRST TIME! (Don't get too excited: note I said start, not run.)

I could get it to start very easily, but wouldn't stay running. Simple problem I thought, must be the fuel supply. So I pull the fuel line to check for a clog and immediately realize my mistake.

After quickly grabbing a bucket, I used a grease pencil to help me from making this mistake again.

(In my early morning deliriousness, I had mixed up the direction of the petcock lever.)

With that all sorted, the bike started and ran like a champ. She did belch a little oil when I shut her off but hopefully that won't be too big of a problem. It's a Harley, it's supposed to do that, right?
Now it's time to get cleaned up and ready for work. No time for a test ride first, the maiden voyage will be my trip to the office this morning. Wish us luck!
